Nelson through my lens
By Minh Tuan Doan, international student from Vietnam studying at Selkirk College
Hi! I’m Minh, an artistic student studying at Selkirk College in Nelson, BC.
This town is the best place to study if you enjoy relaxing and having an education where the surrounding are not high-rise building or the busy atmosphere in the city. This place has good education and affordable tuition for international students. They offer support and assistance for us, and makes sure that we have the most enjoyable time living here.
The first time I came here, I spent a large amount of money from my budget to get everything I need to stay and study, including stationery and food. The college offers free food for students who want to save money or have a small budget. They usually have a variety of activities for students participate, mostly in the residence hall.
For class assignments, I enjoyed going out and taking photos in photography class. It was exciting because I got to go out and have fun, not just doing boring homework in class. After the first semester, I learned a lesson about not procrastinating because deadlines are important. I will lose marks and that’s really bad for my GPA.
I’m glad that I can stay in this wonderful town and have fantastic moments.
